This is a very cool concept. I'm my resistance novel I do a similar thing with in+world artifacts like intelligence memos and incident reports that embellish the damage done by the resistance to inflate their funding. It's not the same concept, and not on this scale. This is genius.

I like the clever concept.

Public companies are scrutinized as much as anyone wants to scrutinize them. Audits, files, memos, verifying all reports, correcting false information, fact checkin (real fact checking) and looking for carpet beetles in the CEO's socks. On top of that they are highly regulated. Most CEO's are good citizens. I have been in the business of researching public companies for 40 years. Scandals pop up, and usually they course correct. So you have examples of public information that has been falsified?
