CLOSEOUT
final corrective memo, part V of V
May Season Studio Archives
by Gintare O.
The Wrap-Assist L12 program was closed the following week.
Budget reconciled.
Assets accounted for.
Contractors paid.
Documentation archived.
Henry signed the final report and forwarded it to R&D, Legal, and Finance. No replies came back. That signified approval.
On paper, the numbers aligned.
Twelve units neutralized.
One unit stored.
Zero units active.
Lorin reviewed the report one final time before submitting it to Records. He added no commentary. He flagged no concerns. The system did not request them.
The work was complete.
Weeks later, Facilities logged an unrelated issue. Ribbon debris found in the archive hallway. Removed. No follow-up required.
No connection was made.
The storage room remained unopened.
The project remained closed.
Somewhere in the building, something continued to keep time. Patient. Unassisted. Without instructions.
No review was scheduled.
That omission would be noted later.
